Like many of you operating in Human Resources, COVID-19 updates are something that we’re monitoring daily. The IRS recently provided concrete guidance on how employers can claim FFCRA tax credits and what records companies need to keep. Shulman Rogers posted an article on their website as well that is helpful to review, so look when you have time.

Key items you need to capture for the leave-related tax credits:

  1. Employee’s name;
  2. Date(s) for which leave is requested;
  3. Statement from the employee on which COVID-19 reason they need the leave for and written support to justify the reason;
  4. Statement from the employee that they are unable to work (or telework.)

Other required details to support the leave

Depending on the type of leave, other details may also be required to support the leave (e.g.- name of the health care professional, government entity ordering quarantine, name of the school and/or childcare facility that is closed, names/ages of children, etc.)

COVID-19 Emergency Paid Sick Leave Templates

The good news is that we’ve added a COVID-19 Request for Expanded FMLA Leave and COVID-19 Request for Emergency Paid Sick Leave template to our COVID-19 resources page. We created these documents for our HR Advisor clients, and they are now available to all clients. Remember to keep any documents to support these leave requests for four years. They can easily be uploaded to the employee documents tab in iSolved.
